MOCA Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland

I worked on establishing the re-positioning of MOCA under the ART IS FOR YOU strategy, and all exhibit communications during the time KesselsKramer was its agency of record. MOCA presents Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland brought two very controversial underground gay artists into the spotlight of the contemporary art world.

The suite of communications for the exhibition included digital, out of home and in-museum pieces and an exclusive catalog that pays homage to Tom and Bob's infamous Zine Physique Pictorial published in the 50's and 60's.

Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland were two of the most significant figures of twentieth century erotic art and forefathers of an emergent post-war gay culture.
These evocative and lusty representations of masculine desire and joyful, eager sex between men proliferated and were disseminated worldwide at a time when the closet was the norm, and there was no such thing as a gay community.

I’m glad we met.
